He doesn´t make anything flashy. He just read the play, gets his man and tangle him up. He don´t play hard but he is smart. He gives his opponent a push that´s big enough to get him out of balance but small enough to avoid a penalty. It´s a pleasure to really watch his play in front of his goalie and along the boards. Some people thinks he is soft - but truth is he is smart !

Leafs fan i SwedenAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-600575121886358008.post-25602606076928236342011-10-24T17:57:33.641-04:002011-10-24T17:57:33.641-04:00Alex C...thanks. A team top-heavy on offence might offer something substantial to upgrade their defence. Would we change our tune if Edmonton reached a point of making Jordan Eberle available, for example?Bobby Craighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13796285286162225158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-600575121886358008.post-25958639434692880132011-10-24T13:57:12.198-04:002011-10-24T13:57:12.198-04:00Gerund O'...Agreed. And he's not as maddening as Kabby, for example.

Long Suffering...oh my, good point about Jonnson. That created an issue at the time for me as well. Giving up young defensemen with real talent usually backfires...(didn't he play in the World Championships for Sweden as recently as two years ago...after many years with the Islanders...?)

Bobby C...that's my sense, too, that he, like Kadri, was very much "in play". Hope that's changed, at least from Gunner's perspective...I just think the guy has a pretty high ceiling,Michael Langloishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17526281022840514679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-600575121886358008.post-42498932676396636542011-10-24T12:21:42.068-04:002011-10-24T12:21:42.068-04:00Spot on article Michael L. Since that has not proven to be the case, at this point at least, Gunnarsson’s stock has risen enough to fend off bidders. Then again, a team like Montreal, should their slide continue, may want to break the bank in the hopes of fending off disaster. Like you, I am leery of letting this player go before his prime, simply because we do not know when and where his talent will peak.Bobby Craighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13796285286162225158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-600575121886358008.post-15476230368907400432011-10-24T09:37:25.869-04:002011-10-24T09:37:25.869-04:00Agree whole heartily Mike. Sadly, even though it was great to have Wendel Clark back with the Leafs, and a descend D-man in Mathieu Schneider, it still pain my heart to see Kenny Jonsson wearing a Islander jersey.Long suffering Leaf fannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-600575121886358008.post-12252471120381397992011-10-24T01:18:04.959-04:002011-10-24T01:18:04.959-04:00I'm with you, Michael. He takes his man out of the play and efficiently relieves him of the puck. He's rarely out of position, his passing is accurate, and as you say, he's a deceptive skater with a decent shot.
Our defence seems much more mobile this year, and it's adding a needed dimension to our attack. But we need the stay-at-home guys too, and Gunnarsson has been an essential part of early season success. If I were Burke, it would take a lot to pry him loose from the team.Gerund O'Malleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18212577489787017900noreply@blogger.com
